Japan Hires Facebook’s Most Popular People

If your friend count is artificially inflated by club nights, promotional spammers and Russian brides-to-be, you may be just what Japan needs.

Ex-SKF reports that the Japanese Government wants to hire Twitter and Facebook users who have big followings to help spread the message that Japan is ‘safe’ in the wake of the recent earthquake and nuclear disaster.

“Starting in November, the ministry will invite people  from Europe, the United States, China and the Middle East who have large Facebook or Twitter followings. They will be selected by the Japanese embassies and consulates overseas, and they will be invited to Fukushima, Miyagi and Iwate Prefectures.”
